First time ever I met Yakov Rekhter!!!

MTU made me cry :-)

IPv6 Internet Next Generation

In this section I will be posting the introductory and complex scenarios of IPv6 deployment and migration. You will find basic description, network topology drawings and configuration files in attachment. For more information you can contact me.

IPv6 Workbook:

    Lab01

I am working on other labs too. IPv6 workbook is mainly focusing on the deployment of IPv6 in Service Provider domain.

BGP VPNv6 (6VPE):

I will call this technique a tunneling technique. IPv6 data will be tunneled into MPLS tunnel from ingress PE to egress PE.

Scenario:
ISP234 has customer CE12 and CE45 connected to R2 and R4 PE routers. CE12 and CE45 both are running IPv6 network and they want to establish communication with each other. ISP234 decided to provide MPLS VPN connectivity to CE12 and CE45 IPv6 networks.

Note:
I am using 7200 with 12.4(20)T IOS, IOS doesn't support the native MPLS label bidings for IPv6 prefixes. MPLS Label bindings are only available for IPv4 prefixes. For configuration file download an attached 6VPE.txt file.

Customer End to End IPv6 connectivity:

Scenario:
ISP234 customers has requested IPv6 connectivity between two different location. ISP234 found one of the PE in their network connected to customer CE does not support dual stack capability. Now ISP234 came up with new idea, L2VPN between two customer site. You can have L2VPN connectivity using L2TPv3 or MPLS Pseudowire. In this case ISP234 will not deal with Customer end routing as well as any fancy policy routing.  In give scenario we will create L2VPN between R2 and R4 PE, we will also create loopback with IPv6 address on R1 and R5. Customer will use OSPF/ISIS as IGP to communicate and exchange routing updates between two sites. I will update  configuration very soon.
